What A Surprise!

Long time since I posted a blog......

I can't really remember what I said in my last blog, but I think it had something to do with my constant back pain and my getting drunk to deal with it......

Well, I've seen a surgeon since then and it turns out I need surgery if I'm ever to get rid of the pain and if I actually want to walk again within two years.

Seems I have serious nerve damage going on in my spine and if I DON'T have the operation, I'll end up in a wheelchair within two years.

I go for an MRI next Friday, 26th September and thereafter I have to wait for the surgeon to analyze the results and decide which particular surgical procedure she needs to carry out.

I'm SCARED!

I know I cannot continue with the level of pain and disability I have now.

I cannot walk more than a few yards, I cannot sit, stand, or lie in bed with any degree of ease. The pain is constant and does NOT respond to prescribed drugs.

My surgeon promises that the operation will be simple and have a fast recovery period, but I still worry.

Another part of me wants to HAVE the operation and get it over with.

When it's done, I should, theoretically at least, be able to resume a normal existence......
