Sep 1st, 2008 Pain!!!!!!Long time since I posted a blog entry. Can't even remember what I said in my last blog! Okay, here goes......
It's Monday, 1st September, 4.15, UK time. Last Tuesday, 26th August, I had a consultation with a senior surgeon at our local hospital, concerning my never-ceasing backmpain. I have spondylolothesis - I had diagnosis eleven years ago.
The last year, the pain has taken over my life. I cannot walk more than 100 yards, cannot sit/stand for more than half an hour. I do not sleep nights for the pain. So, I saw a surgeon last Tuesday morning...... No option but to have an operation - if I ever want to be free of pain and to live any kind of normal life again. Now, here's the rub...... This surgery will not cost me a penny. It's covered under the auspices of our National Health Service, I REALLY WANT this surgery now, because the pain in my back has brought me to desperation point. However..... I have an abscess in the roof of my mouth. A dental matter, you think.....? WRONG! We no longer have afforable dental care in the UK. My dentist is based miles away from my home. Given the state of my back, I can't GET there. If I go to him with a dental abscess, he'll just prescribe an anti-biotic. He'll then charge me £16 for the consultation! If I see my GP, he'll give me the same anti-biotic on prescription - and it won't vost me a panny, coz I have a pre-payed certificate!
It is SO wrong that we are unable to have dental treatment because it's so expensive and some of us can't get to the dental surgery...... Off my soapbox now. My mood: extremely pissed This Journal Entry's Comment Board (1 comment)
